I hope you are all enjoying the fall weather that has finally arrived!! It’s been beautiful hiking at the park!
1. Found Wedding Band!!
A man’s wedding band was found in the Edmands lot at the end of Sept. It has an inscription inside. If you or anyone you know is missing it, please have them contact us. We would love to reunite it with it’s owner.
2. Park Clean Up/Volunteers Needed!!
As many of you have probably noticed, our park is looking a little worse for wear. And we’re not the only ones noticing. DCR notified us recently that they’ve had several complaints about the amount of dog poop on trails as well as dogs off leash in on leash designated locations. As we all know, of DCR receives too many complaints about off leash dogs, it puts our off leash privileges in jeopardy. We would hate for Callahan to become an on leash only park because people didn’t follow the rules.
As a good faith effort, we are scheduling this clean up day to show DCR that we continue to be a responsible group and that we care enough about the park and don’t want to lose it or our off leash privileges. Clean up will be Saturday November 5th from 10 am – 12 pm.
We would love to have volunteers at both the Millwood and Edmands entrances. Additionally we have some new signs that will be going up throughout the park and are looking for volunteers to help with that as well. The signs will hopefully help with confusion about where the on leash vs off leash trails are.
